I have been reading the Deadlocked series back to back and thinks this is the best one so far. I didn't think, at the beginning of it that I would.like it, as it seemed to be a little too "guyish, " however I still got my emotional cravings satisfied. Having said that, this is actually going to be a complaint review. I always read the authors note after finishing a book, and AR writes the best notes ever, especially since he re edits again later. I love that! However, the re edited authors note is where I just about lost my mind. ###SPOILER ALERT### When AR mentioned that he got the most complaints that he's ever received because of a lesbian sex scene, I was furious. I agree that people are entitled to be offended by whatever they want, however, c'mon people, what year is this? And excuse me, not you can have bloody, gory, entrails hanging out and that doesn't bother you, but two young girls, innocently have their first EVER sexual experience together and you freak? I'm sorry, what? Ok, sorry. I highly recommend this series. Also, if you love this, read The Born Trilogy by Tara Brown.Product details

Deadlocked 5 Deadlocked Series eBook AR Wise Reviews
The zombie genre is at it's height of popularity. Thanks to series like The Walking Dead and the less popular Z Nation and movies like World War Z and so many others, you'd think they'd be all out of ideas. How could anyone possibly come up with something original? Well, A.R. Wise did!
I love these books. There is not need to give a detailed review of the plot. These books are based on the un-dead. It's original and thrilling and I am so thrilled to have found them! Great work Mr. Wise!!!
Based on the title, I would love to see this book/series cut into larger pieces. What I mean is the interest is there, the story potential is there, and I am OBVIOUSLY hopelessly addicted and willing to pay more for it. There is so much potential to explore this world that I hope we get to see more of it.

I was super stoked when Hero/Levon showed up (I even proclaimed "Awesome" out loud when it happened), although it wasn't completely clear what his connection was to what was going on in DIA/The Facility. I know he accepted responsibility for the explosions, but it never seemed clear how or why that was going on.
This was action packed. I wasn't expecting to read some of what was in here, but that just added to the books suspense. I was sad for one part and cheered on others. I'm always on the edge of my seat with these books. Ready for the next one!!!
The series kept getting better! Everything about the book was original. I get to learn more about ben from the first series. He was a like able character, especially when he saved a small dog. There's a new character introduced in the story--Cobra Dash. The setting of where Cobra was from was really interesting, although, id love if the author described what were the girls doing in the faculty rather than get to the action instantly. I think she's one of my favorite character in the book. I also was thrilled the author included same sex partner in the book. It was a nice change from common zombie that limited to heterosexual partnership. This book contained two different lesbian couples. The author made the whole setting realistic. Most of the characters loved to cussed, but it didn't bother me. Temper gets best of them ha.
I definitely recommended horror/zombie fan to check this one out. But read book 1-4 before this one because some of the original characters appeared in book 5. Buy it and you won't br disappointed!
I love this series so much. Action, heartbreak, Zombies! This entry picks up 20 years after book four, and the world's only gotten worse. Few zombie stories I've seen venture so far into the future of the apocalypse, and it's clear from the get go that it's pretty bleak for the survivors. Instead of returning right away with familiar characters, you're introduced to two new ones. Ben, a lone warrior badass that'd give Daryl Dixon a run for his money in terms of zombie slaying awesmonocity. Cobra, a beautiful young girl that's grown up in a secret facility filled with only redhead or blonde girls like herself; as a result it's a fast punch to the gut for her when she finally makes it to the surface which is both hilarious and tragic. The original cast do eventually appear, and while they've got their own stories to tell in the future it's nice just to have their cameos. Book 5 sets up the next four entries of the Deadlocked series and I can't wait to read book six.
The Deadlocked series is a pretty good zombie/apocalypse romp, with lots of detailed gore and odoriferous prose for those who dig that aspect of the genre. With Deadlocked 5, we jump ahead 20 years to a world essentially devastated by the engineered virus that has overrun the planet and left precious few people immune...and some very pretty women living underground in complete naivete about the real world above them.
Wise is now writing in multiple POV mode by chapter, and the action flows well, even if some characters like Ben aren't fleshed out well for two decades' worth of living through hell. There are some near-verbatim repeated explanations about what and how Ben has lived, indicating the need for tighter editing.
And there is definitely a need for grammar editing. I have no idea what a "troth" is, and I'm guessing that the author meant "trough." And please, please, please...you don't stack trade goods on a palette; you stack them on a pallet. That homonym doozie seems to be a favorite of indie authors in the Z/A space.
I'm about 50% through the volume and, despite the jarring mis-command of English, it's a fun read. I'm eager with anticipation to see who among the characters in Deadlocked 1-4 make it to Deadlocked 5.
